The Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS):
The “CEDS,” or Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, is a regional plan that helps to coordinate governmental efforts in the area such that they work together to improve the quality of life for area residents. The typical scope of a CEDS is broad, and can cover public infrastructure, entrepreneurship, workforce, community development, and other related topics. The Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments (CWCOG) is the region’s Economic Development District Organization, and as such, is the government agency responsible for developing the CEDS.
As a plan that directly serves the public and guides public investment, the CEDS has multiple points in its development for public engagement. For the 2023-2028 CEDS planning process, the CWCOG will host sessions around the region for members of the community to come learn about, and contribute to, the plan and process.
